More Final Transfers

Just quickly to the Premier League, Stoke confirmed that Eidur Gudjohnsen has been signed permanently on an initial one-year contract, and Spurs have been allowed to complete their 8 mill signing of Rafael Van der Vaart, which could prove to be the transfer of the season.

Other news in the Premier League involve Socceroo David Carney, who has signed a 1-year deal with Blackpool after a move from FC Twente. The move should help Blackpool as they aim to avoid relegation.

There are no Premier League, La Liga or Serie A games this weekend due to the International break. Therefore the A-League will be in the spotlight this weekend. Australia is in action Saturday morning against Switzerland and then Wednesday morning against Poland, which will be new manager Holger Osieck’s first games in charge.

Brisbane Roar have added Costa Rican forward Jean Carlo Sorlozano to their ranks and look like they have received clearance for him face the Jets this Sunday.

Sydney are hoping their own South American import Bruno Cazarine will receive clearance in time for their showdown with Adelaide. The Brazilian striker’s addition is crucial as Brosque still struggles with an ankle injury.

Nicky Ward has crossed the Tasman, trading Melbourne Victory for Wellington Phoenix. A solid signing or the Phoenix, Ward has moved in order to find more playing time. He has only managed 6 minutes so far this campaign.
