A-League + Premier League Preview

A-League Predictions

Brisbane Roar v Wellington – Wellington have never won at this ground and have only beaten the Roar once out of nine meetings. However although Brisbane haven’t conceded in two games they have also only scored one in comparison to Wellington’s five. (Wellington)

North Queensland v Adelaide – An interesting encounter between two teams who were predicted for lowly finishes yet remain unbeaten after three games. (Nth Queensland)

Sydney v Central Coast – Bridge returns from injury yet Brosque and skipper McFlynn will miss this fixture as Sydney aim to register their first win of the season. Meanwhile the anticipated debut of Mariners’ exciting talent Patricio Perez is expected. (Sydney)

Gold Coast v Melbourne – The Victory and Gold Coast are still searching for their first win, Brazilian import Ricardinho isn’t in the squad. (Draw)

Melbourne v Perth – Heart will have a tough time against top of the table Perth, yet will be encourged by the fact that Mile Sterjovski is ruled out through injury. I think they can get a win though. (Melbourne)

Premier League

Blackburn v Arsenal – The game will come too early for new Arsenal signing Squillaci, yet van Persie and Fabregas should make returns to the starting 11. (Arsenal)

Blackpool v Fulham – Given Fulham’s admirable draw against Man Utd last weekend you’d think they’d be certain for victory. Yet their poor away form in recent seasons means a draw looks good. (Draw)

Chelsea v Stoke – Another 6-0 victory? I doubt it against a very organised Stoke side, but it should be a win for the defending Champions. (Chelsea)

Tottenham v WiganSpurs should dominate Wigan. The Latics have looked very poor in the opening games and Spurs will be buzzing after qualifying for the Champions League. Will perhaps be without Defoe however. (Spurs)

Wolves v Newcastle – The Toon will look to continue after the 6-0 demolition of Villa, however a draw could be on the cards and would please Chris Hughton as he looks to gain the team’s first away points. That said Wolves are the type of team Newcastle have to beat to stay in the Premier League. (TOON)

Man Utd v West Ham – After struggling against League Two side Oxford and the team losing its first two league games, West Ham look to be in for a tough game at Old Trafford. (Man Utd)

Bolton v Birmingham – Birmingham have made a decent start to the season and will look to push on. Bolton defeated West Ham 3-1 yet looked out of the game in the first half. (Birmingham)

Liverpool v West Brom – Liverpool are resting both Torres and Gerrard in the Europa League in preparation for this game and they should have the quality to see off the Baggies at home. (Liverpool)

sunderland v Man City – Fuck the mackems, Man City will run riot. (Man City)

Villa v Everton – Villa will hope to bounce back from the humiliating defeat at Newcastle, while Everton will be disappointed with their own start to the season, though a 5-1 win in the Carling Cup will boost confidence. Should be a good game. Villa were just dumped out of European competition with a 3-2 loss against Rapid Vienna. (Draw)
